Title: Stuck castle nut
Post by: ADRay on August 08, 2016, 04:04:47 AM
Currently swapping out my rear drums & wheel studs. I did the passenger side first, and it went smoothly and took about 30 minutes.

I've hit a snag on the driver side, the castle nut is stuck. I've tried wrenching & PBing, and it moves a little, but it is still very stuck.

This car had the brakes completely done two years ago, so it's not a matter of it being old, corroded and seized.

I suspect that the mechanic that did the work blasted it on with an impact driver...

The next thing I'm going to try is a breaker bar.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I just went at it with a breaker bar and then an impact.

It may also be a left-handed threading.  There was one of the rears was that way from the factory for a while.

Thats how mine are..... RH side is right hand threaded......LH side is  opposite left hand threaded.

Don't feel like the lone ranger, I just found this out this weekend myself, helping a friend take the play out of his rear bearings......
