Title: Fun incoming
Post by: Willie_B on April 16, 2026, 06:45:37 PM
My mini is signed up to be used in a movie shoot in a couple of weeks. Started out to be a background car, then changed to be the main actors car. Small low budget film. The production company does not have insurance for the actors to drive the cars so I will be doing all the driving scenes dressed as the main actor. The movie is about college students that do "on the sly" intervention art installs in odd places. It seems that things never go as planned as it's a comedy. So I get to be a goth college student dressed in all black included a hoodie. The hoodie is always be up for doing things on the sly. That will be good to hide my grey hair. Time for new and different experiences. Even get paid to do it all. Not sure on the amount but will get at least $500 a day even just for background car.

That is very cool! And nice you don't have to trust somebody else to drive your car carefully.

I was watching a documentary recently about the movie American Graffiti. It was one of those videos on YouTube framed like "20 things you didn't know about...". Anyway, the owner of the first generation Thunderbird that Suzanne Summers drove was apparently wildly  overprotective of his car and drove everyone on the set crazy with his demands about how she needed to treat the car.

Operation Hummas. The actual setup and filming is being done by UGA students in the schools Master of Fine Arts.

Do you get to wear makeup and a wig to simulate the actor while you drive?

Doesn't everyone do that? Hmmm... maybe it's just me.

Did the movie people want to make any changes to your car for the film? Remove stuff? Add stuff?

NICE!

A wee strange thing though, all the photos come in to me in landscape orientation, but if I click on the sideways ones, they immediately flip right side up. ( I use Firefox, if that makes a difference.)

Because this is a low budget student run production they were just happy to have the car, although not knowing I took all the stickers and non stock stuff off. They did not even bother to cover or change the license plate.

High tech and low tech. Green screen in the background for future driving scene, guy in front of car with his foot on the bumper and the guy off to the left with the pole going under the car provided the rocking movement for driving scenes.

The adult actors that had to sit in the backseat had about a 10 timeframe and they ready to get out. The lights that were on produced a lot of heat towards the car and they could not even run a fan towards the car for sound noise reasons.
