I received an E-mail about a week ago, though only noticed it last night. T'was from a long-time MiniMania forum member who was mentioning that their message board/bored was virtually imploding.
HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA!

Conveniently "sold his mini" in less than a day just before he was to be banned from the board. lol No for sale ad, no evidence he ever had one. Coincidentally it was right when Don decided to step in.. how coincidental...
Like I said, he was the biggest "ratings" driver on that forum. Driving stupid view counts and web traffic. I still believe it was someone at MiniMania who was masquerading or another member who knows them well. He strategically posted where he could get the most views and when traffic was low, he would surface and start stirring shit up again. It's a sad and childish existence whether he's a troll or not. And the fact he kept resorting to disgusting claims of racism and other childish claims makes me even more sad for whatever adult it was.
Me personally, I'll continue to use them to gain views on my social media and to drive traffic to this site. For the rest of them, they can enjoy that out dated forum with closed-minded members.
Too little too late. I have not logged in over there for a long time they lost my parts business long before that.
Could have maybe got it back but Jemal is an asshole to members and won't listen to reason.
He jumped my ass for a post about how they were losing vendors and opportunities for new products because of the state of the forum.
A business friend of mine that makes classic car parts is doing great with some mini products I helped him develop he will not sell to MM because of the shit show forum and Jemals lack of respect for customers.
He feels it could reflect back to his products MM approached him after seeing how well the products do and the demand he told them no way.
I hope there bullshit ways catch up to them Don may be a good guy I don't know him personally but MM as a whole sucks.
Every transaction I ever had was a shit show one required involving the BBB and there were a few other people at the time and a few since on the BBB with problems.
Of all me eBay Amazon and other business transactions many thousands I have only ever used the BBB once and that was with MM.
Also Every car show or event I have ever been too involved a few conversations with unhappy MM customers asking where else to get parts.
Apparently, their business model is not repeat customers but high turnover just fuck the guy and move on that's the feeling me and many others have got from them.
Every time I go back to that site I'm amazed to find that the SAME folks are arguing about the SAME things they have been for years and years.
While Specialist might be gone there is a new(ish) member that appears to have a Mini but for f*ck sake I wish he'd learn to use the search button or even Google at minimum. I'm sure I have asked repetitive, more then once answered questions but many of the most recent inquiries are really common topics that a quick Google search would pull up a MM thread quite easily.
At the end of the day after sludging through the newest members posts of fully searchable topics you're left with BC (thewerewolf) talking about importing cars for the last 100 years and some crazy often funny rant and CooperTune chiming in to hijack a thread offering up whatever miscellaneous Parts he has for sale at the moment, sometimes even a full car if you're lucky both of which have nothing to do with the original thread topic but maybe you're in need of the item.
If you can use the search feature there is a ton of helpful information from a lot of the old time members and I appreciated a lot of them for the help I've gotten but the day to day BS is exhausting.
I like enjoy popping over to RM to see the what you are all up to. The set up over here is nice too. Get to the point in the Maintenance/Mod section or waste time on your bosses dime in the lounge section!

I still lurk on MM, but no longer post. I have had similar thoughts about DERWOOD being either an evolution of the prior "troll" or wanting answers spoon-fed to him without any effort at really learning his car.
I have strong feelings about Derwood and a couple of the others that posted on his threads. (seller, shipper, super quick replies each time by Specialist etc.)
He was slathering to look at Minis a few months back in the fall and I offered to show him mine and even sell it at a reasonable price and he did not want to come.(I am ~3 hrs away in NB) (so I called his bluff)
I honestly don't believe half of what he says.
I even have my doubts he's a real guy in PEI.
I won't belabour the point and dirty up this site however. Onwards and upwards.
All I'll say is it's unusual for a business to let their image be tarnished by allowing their website to run wild with trolls. From what I gather an employee who seemingly encouraged it.

Not to mention all of the issues that arise from "site upgrades" that break basic features such as picture posting and compatibility with Apple products (Macs, iPads, iPhones, Safari browser, etc.)
Rarely have any issues here and when something has come up, Dan addresses it promptly.
We have 2 issues here. Pictures post sideways and not all new registrants automatically activate, so I have to check under my admin panel to manually activate new members that are in limbo. Neither are huge issues but a slight annoyance for me.
