Well, when Max headed off into the distance in the early going I thought this was just going to be another Red Bull romp, but it got real exciting in the last 10 laps or so as Norris chased him down - one or two more laps would have done it I think.....and so did Max!

At any rate, while McLaren has shown the ability to fight for wins, the rest are pretty much falling into line. A few bright spots tho as Tsunoda is showing real improvement this year, and really getting after it. I would like to see him at Aston instead of Stroll, but to his credit Lance finished 9th, one ahead of Yuki.

Everyone but Sauber, Aston, Alpine and Williams are having a pretty good year so far.

There is a strong contingent that think Ollie should be at HAAS next season instead of KMag. And there don't seem to be a line at the door looking for either Zhou or Bottas' services.....

The silly season will really get going after the summer break I'll bet. Still interested to see how the Hamster will fare against LeClerc.

The wheels would pretty much have to fall off of Max's season for him to not win the driver's championship this year, but who knows? Right now LeClerc is in 2nd, although he's almost 50 pts back of Max.

Your car may have had the side marker lights at one time.  They may have been left out if/when the fenders were replaced at some point in time?

Thanks George, this is helpful.

Also, I was able to determine the side marker light wire - however, my car doesn't have side markers. My Subaru has several "never used" harnesses so maybe the side marker light wire is unused for my application, but it also looks like it was plugged into something at some point.

This has been the most mysterious part of the rebuild 😬

I ended up buying a "topdon" off Amazon. It had good reviews, but how many of those are real...

Yes, BCE is overall richer than BDL.

The charts are read left to right, bottom to top.  The lower left is the idle station.  WOT is at the top right.

The station numbers are along the bottom with the pointy end as #16.

Lean is at the bottom, rich at the top.

On the MintyLamb site, enter the needle to be graphed in the "Search Needles" box.  To remove a needle from the graph, click on the colored needle name above the graph.

Quote from: MPlayle on May 16, 2024, 10:25:36 AMBased on the needle you mentioned at the start of this thread and the two needles Dave recommended, I plotted them in the "MintyLamb" site (screenshot attached below).
How does one read those charts?  In the chart is the BCE overall richer or leaner than the BDL?

Thanks.

I have a NOCO Boost XL 1500A that works remarkably well for its size. I bought it as a package deal with a 2 bank NOCO Genius smart charger which is a bit nicer than a Battery Tender.

Two sources I found very helpful with my wiring.
https://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/324929-wire-diagrams-redrawn/
https://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/263927-bs-au7-full-wiring-codecolours/

According to the BS-AU7: Red Black Parking switch to left-hand side lamp

You may need to login to The Mini Forum to find the redrawn wire diagrams.
Alternatively search the Google as follows. site:theminiforum.co.uk wire diagrams redrawn

The BS-AU7 is on their site under frequently asked questions.

OF course this is assuming someone in the past 45 years didn't just "use a bit of wire I had laying about....."

I hope this helps, the car is looking better every day!

Maintenance and Modifications / Wiring help
Last post by ADRay - May 18, 2024, 03:31:18 PM
I am putting my car wiring back together after disconnecting the main and rear harnesses to remove them from the engine bay. Overall, my physical and mental notes were about 95% efficient. I'm left with a couple of bullet connectors on wires where the colors don't match. On the female end, I have a double Green White, and a single Green White. On the male end, I have a Red Black, Green Red and a Green Brown. I also have this other Red Black wire that attaches to the bottom left blade on the fuse box that I can't figure out where it goes. The wiring is a pretty hacked up 1982 Mini 1000 HL. The wiring diagram in the Haynes has no Red Black. Any help is welcome, please see pics.

Quote from: MiniDave on May 17, 2024, 10:00:41 AMHAAS have improved enough that the Hulk is showing other drivers that they are no longer the last place team and could be a good place to start or even enhance your career. It sure worked for him! He's consistently made it into the top 10, race after race both in qually and in finishing order. The potential seems to be there again at HAAS.

Helps when your team mate drives off the circuit to keep their competitors behind them.  Did it in Saudi and again in Miami.
