1971 Mini Cooper S starts and warms up, runs down the road a bit, then conks out as if it's out of fuel, but new fuel pump is getting gas to the engine.
What might be causing this?
What might be a possible solution?
What questions do you have.
I am Sleepless in Santa Fe.
Clogged filter? Float bowl stuck? Mechanical or electric fuel pump?
When it conks out, is it sudden, like someone threw a switch or gradual, like it's running out of gas?
Fuel tank not vented.
Fuel pump is mechanical.
Blocked fuel line (s) or pipes on the float bowl(s).
Will it start back up after dying? easily?
Do you know fuel pump is supplying enough (i.e. More than just start and idle)?
Float needles sticking closed. Not letting enough fuel to re fill the fuel bowls.
After a LIGHT needle sanding on the edges to free up the needle problem solved. )this could be exasperated by ethanol fuel - purely a theory.)
Don't know if this has been solved, but mine was doing this and it was the points condenser.
