Maintenance and Modifications / Re: Jet height HIF 44

I'll check as I drive it more.
I kind of wish I had mounted the gauge on the dash up higher in front of me so I don't need to look down when driving.

So here are my numbers after modifying a BDL needle with 1000 grit paper and metal polish in the my lathe.

Idle @ 1000 rpms 10 degrees advance 13.3 - 14.2 pretty steady idle now.
2000-3500 accelerating 14.1 - 15.2
Steady state 50 mph/3000 rpm 14.4 - 15.2
Steady state 70 mph/4000 rpm 15.5 - 15.8
Accelerating on the highway from 70 mph leans it out to 16+

Other notables LZX 2085 damper with 20/50 oil (this was recommended by AC Dodd), MED stub stack w/ITG MED foam filter, BP6ES plugs

I started with the jet height at .075 but have since brought it up but I didn't remove the vacuum chamber to remeasure it.

Fuel Injection / Re: MINI DIY Supercharged w/Ho...

Just read through this (old) thread and figured I'll add this YouTube comment I saw April 2020 about the Sniper system.

I don't know the person with the MG nor anything about his setup, but wondered what he used for intake.  I assumed Weber but there are likely more options for longitudinally mounted engine in MG's.  Thought it was interesting none the less.

I have a brand new fiberglass tailgate for a Mini pickup. Never been installed, absolutely perfect. Why deal with rust? $150 plus shipping.

Monaco this weekend - should be an interesting race - whoever gets pole is usually good to go to the end, but there can always be surprises. Good opportunity for one of the Ferrari or big Mac boys to steal a race win.

All the internet rumor sites have Bottas going home to Williams next season, if he does where does that leave Mercedes and their wonderkinder Antonelli?

And who will want to race for Alpine next season? They really should just sell the team to Andretti and be done with it.....then they can go back to focusing their efforts on the motor power unit.

Yes, it stays in place.  I do not know its purpose, but it looks to be similar to a grub screw plugging a milling hole.

Maintenance and Modifications / HS4 carb rebuild question
Last post by ADRay - May 21, 2024, 10:13:24 AM
I have my carb apart, and have the opportunity to have it machine cleaned, but I'm curious about this little plastic-looking plug on the bottom of this piece. Rebuild kit didn't come with a new one, and it doesn't look like it will come out without damage.

Does this stay in place? Thanks
